Bandeau - Appropriate or not?

So in the past few years Bandeau's have become more and more popular in fashion.

I remember my mom bought me my first bandeau like 5 years ago (before they were popular) from this really random store and I remember saying "Mom. That is so weird, why wouldn't I just wear a cami?"

I live to bite my tongue on that one. It came in handy so often even before it was 'trending'.

It was great when I wanted to cover up but was already wearing a strappy tee or a strapless top.

Now Bandaus are worn under sheer shirts, high waisted shorts, high waisted skirt, even as bathing suit tops!

Top: $19 Riverisland
Skirt: $74 GeneralPants
Flats: $14 Myhotshoes

So I came across a super cute bathing suit top that is originally from Target but I found it at my local thrift store (tags still attached) for $2 (originally 17).

It was a L but I am one to never shy away from what the size label says so I tried it on.

It was super cute and gave great coverage -- if you know what I mean ;)

So here is my question to you all. Is it okay to wear this bathing suit top with a high skirt and a cardigan or is it inappropriate?

Apologies for low quality picture taking abilities. My macbook can only do so much!

I personally think it is 100% okay but then again I wear a lot of things that most people probably wouldn't imagine wearing even in a dream.

It almost is like a 'bustier' top -- which by the way are SO IN right now.

So what are your thoughts, yes or no? If yes, what kind of settings would make it appropriate/inappropriate

The Grand Geometric

Happy Easter everyone!!

I hope all of your Easters were full of joy, happiness, grateful hearts and family!

Today's dress was found at a garage sale!

DRESS BRAND: L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani
(most of her dresses are over $100 originally!)

What I paid: $4
(they were asking $5 but I am cheap and haggled a bit)

I loved the geometric shapes at the bottom of the dress, it added so much pizzaz and character to the piece.

In the spirit of Easter, it reminded me of when you dye Easter eggs and then they crack!

Shoes: (roommates) from Target

Fun Story:
So, I was originally driving around looking for a thrift store I had heard good reviews on. Hunting for '11th Street.'
As we came up to '11th Street' at the correct street number.... there was no thrift store.... BUT A GARAGE SALE!
(how random right?)

Here was the catch: We were in a somewhat questionable area.

-Special Thanks to my lovely photography Arlina Rose-

I decided to take the risk.
-complete daredevil-
I found this dress and 2 other great items for under $10!

So what happened to the thrift store?
Well me being the complete genius that I am didn't pay attention to the cities
and just assumed it was the city of my current location.

-ashamed of ignorance-

Little Miss Katniss

Today I brought out my inner 'Katniss' and this is what I would wear to 'Reaping Day'

-x-

I was feeling a lot better today and wanted to take advantage of that so here is a post!
(Like I said last post, I will usually only do posts Mondays or Wednesdays)

Today is special!
1. I feel pretty good (which is a first for a while)
2. The Hunger Games comes out tonight!

Skirt: vintage $1.50 (Thrifted @ Savers)
Olive Tank: randomly appeared in my closet a year ago (Forever 21)

Of course I wore a Olive Green Tank to represent Katniss, since she ROCKS that color throughout the novels.

Shoes: My Roommates (Target Mossimo)

When I read The Hunger Games I imagined this soft lighting a eerie fairytale of horror type look during 'Reaping Day'

Necklaces: Forever 21 & Nordstrom

Katniss had a braid, but I opted for 3 bun twists!

Thank you all for being so understanding as I deal with my health!
xoxo

Paisley Paradise

This week is going to be hectic for me so I wanted to give you a fashion packed post today!
(because I may not post again for a few days.. maybe next Monday)

Style Tip: If the dress is long, make them shoes high!

Skirt (made dress): BP Nordstrom Clearance $15
Vest: Target Super Clearance $3 (twas a XL)

Wedges: Love Culture ~$17

Elephant Necklace: Plato's Closet $8
Belt: Thrifted (used a plenty in past posts)

Further exploration into my 'fashion tip'
The reason I say long dress = high shoes is because {being 5'2} when skirts, dresses, shorts etc. go past your knee you start to look very scrunched and overtaken by the item.

Don't let your clothes wear you -- show them who is boss and work together :)

-x-x-x-
I absolutely love this outfit it is a go-to when I need to be semi-casual/dressy.

Ps: can you imagine how long of a skirt this would have been on me!
When I tried it on at Nordstrom as a dress one of the workers was flabbergasted by the fact that you could wear a skirt as a dress!
I was taken-aback by the fact that she had never done it before!

Outfit Total: $43
Worn 5+ times
=$8.6 per wear
(it could actually be seen as cheaper considering I wear all the items with various other outfits!)

Leopard Layers

The ONLY thing I like about winter is the ability to layer.
(awesome sales, hot cocoa, tea, and cuddling are nice perks to winter as well)

I think the cold weather is a great opportunity to try out layers and patterns that you might not have tried before.

I did my double scarf trick, and wore 3 pairs of tights today.

Today it was below 50, and that is cold for this California Girl, but thankfully with my layers I stayed fairly warm!

Dress: (gift) from Macy's
Leopard Scarf - Merona (target)
Sheer Orange/Yellow Scarf - Used here
Brown Jacket - Thrifted (Wet Seal)
Shoes - Thrifted

I stopped by T.J Max today and got some awesome pieces. Paid a little more than I would have wanted but with 'shopping math,' I have saved enough to splurge on some shoes :)

Dainty Day

For dinner I decided to get all dressed up.
I really enjoy getting ready and looking put together so I had a blast doing my hair and make-up.

But my favorite part was of course, my outfit.

(why yes, this was taken in the bathroom at my hotel)

I have been trying to slowly bring more color and pastel-ish tones into my wardrobe.

(also, everything I will be posting this week besides the bathing suits, was thrifted)

Shirt - a vintage find at Curio, it was free because I had store credit
Skirt - $1.50 Xhileration (from the kids section) but I found it at Goodwill with the tags still on it

So all in all excluding my shoes (which were from target and bought two seasons ago) this outfit cost me $1.50

--x--

We went to a fabulous restaurant called Assiago's and I had the most delicious fish dish ever!

It was Fish Alla Piccata; the fish was Opah, also known as moonfish.

Day 1 in Hawaii - No sunburn!
