American Pride

In the spirit of Fourth Of July...
I wanted to share with everyone a way to wear our countries 'colors'
without feeling like a American flag.

First off, if you are going to wear red and blue.. don't wear white.

Secondly add in a non patriotic color. Today - I chose brown :)

Sleeveless Blouse: $5 at Curio
I got it for free because I had store credit! Woohoo!

Navy Skirt: $4 at Goodwill
Also used here

Belt: $1 at Valley Care Thrift Store
I use this belt ALL the time. It's like the perfect 'grab and go' waist belt!

Shoes: $45 (originally $100) TJ Maxx
also worn herehere and here

I love this outfit because although it is a bold red and blue, I can wear it without feeling ridiculous. Because lets be honest.. only Katy Perry can pull of a actual american flag outfit.

The Wild Wild ...Africa?

I was really excited to wear these earrings today!
Before I left for school my mom gave me some of her old jewelry from when she was in her 20-30's.

They are big, random, and beautiful!

I absolutely love these cowboy hat earrings!
(BTW- this entire outfit was all thrifted)

Giraffe Patterned Blouse: Orig. Forever 21

Earrings: Momma

Jeans: Orig. Sold Denim Lab ($5 at thrift store)
Boots: (remember these from previous posts?) $2 at thrift store

French Tie

Seeing as I go back to school in less than a week
I decided to take advantage of the fact that I have my mother's closet here.

Today I went into her closet and saw in the way back corner this old French Laundry sheer blouse, tags still attached.

Seeing as it has probably been there a couple years I gave myself the okay to wear it.
It was  a little big on me so I only buttoned 3 buttons and then tied up the rest of the shirt.

Blouse - French Laundry
Boots - Kensie
Leather Clutch - Thrifted
Bracelet - Old Pocket Watch Chain wrapped twice

Something I live by - Sizes don't matter.
I try on shirts that are all sizes -- I recommend you give it a try, you might be surprised how sometimes a bigger size looks better and makes the top more versatile!

Challenge: Go out of your comfort zone!  I have always wanted to tie my blouses up and do little things that could be seen as 'different' and then I start seeing them in other peoples pictures and realize it is okay to do whatever I want with fashion. So with that being said, when you have an idea give it try and you might love the outcome.
I will definitely be doing this again with other tops of mine.
