Turn a XL into a XS in Seconds!

One of my favorite tricks in the book is buying every size.

To me, sizes don't define me.

I can wear everything from a XS-XL.

The trick is how you wear it!

This dress is from Rue 21 and is a XL.

But you wouldn't guess that on first glance right?

Check this out:

You can make two cute darts in the back using safety pins!

This is how I borrow my friends clothing, my moms or when I just MUST have a dress even though it doesn't fit.

Safety Pin darts are easy and quick!

All you have to do is inside out your shirt or dress. Pinch two sections near the waist line and pin!

Inside it back out and there you have it! Try it on and edit it accordingly!

((If you have more time and own the dress *the one I am wearing I am borrowing* you can sew the darts in so they are forever!))

Hope this encourages you to look past your size range in the stores this summer :)

13 and Down

Happy Wednesday!
I hope you are all having a lovely week, it is officially spring time and the rain is everywhere so it seems.

One day it's raining, the next I am wearing a dress.

Anywhoo's
Arlina Rose Photography and I did these shots in December at Ruby Hill Winery.

Every piece in this outfit cost less than $12.00!

Jacket: Vintage $6.00 @ Goodwill
Jeans: Cello Jeans $13 @ Ross

I love this jackets stellar shoulder pads!

Tie Blouse: $3.00 @ Goodwill

Look at the awesome buttons!! One of the features that drew me into this jacket!
I adored the roped texture that surrounded the white polished stone.

Steve Madden Heels: NEW $7.00 @ Goodwill

Hat: Swap-meet $6.00

What Inspired This Look?

From this outfit you can probably tell that I am in love with Goodwill.
Although this is true I find them to be a wee bit pricey when it comes to thrift stores.
This being said, I usually only go when they are having 50% off Apparel sales.

Shimmering Shoe Showdown

Shirt/Dress: Orig. Moda International; Bought at Curio (Size XXL)
Remember my thrift tip: Don't be afraid to try on random sizes

Todays Feature: Shoe Showdown!

I decided to show you all how you can dress up/dress down a outfit just by a simple shoe change.

VS

VS
Boots:  Ross        Wedges: Kohls; Candies

Accessories:
Red Arrow Belt: Thrifted (.50)

Arrow-Head Earrings: Forever 21
There are actually both earrings in this one ear!
Since my hair was all to one side
I decided to only wear a stud on that side and double up the arrowheads!

Tights: Forever 21
I loved the way the tights glistened in this photo!

I absolutely adored wearing these tights!
They were funky and out of my usual comfort zone!
Consider that comfort zone broken;  2012 is all about dressing to please myself
and to have fun with patterns and color!
(anyone willing to take this carefree clothing challenge with me?)

Dainty Day

For dinner I decided to get all dressed up.
I really enjoy getting ready and looking put together so I had a blast doing my hair and make-up.

But my favorite part was of course, my outfit.

(why yes, this was taken in the bathroom at my hotel)

I have been trying to slowly bring more color and pastel-ish tones into my wardrobe.

(also, everything I will be posting this week besides the bathing suits, was thrifted)

Shirt - a vintage find at Curio, it was free because I had store credit
Skirt - $1.50 Xhileration (from the kids section) but I found it at Goodwill with the tags still on it

So all in all excluding my shoes (which were from target and bought two seasons ago) this outfit cost me $1.50

We went to a fabulous restaurant called Assiago's and I had the most delicious fish dish ever!

It was Fish Alla Piccata; the fish was Opah, also known as moonfish.

Day 1 in Hawaii - No sunburn!

Nine Dollars Baby!

The reason the title is 'Nine Dollars Baby' is because -- that is how much this outfit cost me!

Sweater - $3 Thrifted (orig. Nordstrom's) Dress - Gift (orig. F21) Necklace - $2 Thrifted
(and although you cannot see my shoes, they are the boots from earlier posts that cost me $2)

I have worn this ensemble another time at school and used the belt from here.
I love it! Thoughts?

I cannot take 'model-esque' pictures without doing a few silly ones, so I hope they make you laugh!

These pictures were taken by Arlina Rose Photography in Texas over my Thanksgiving vacation.
