The Hunt

Since today was the first day...
I of course wore something I had planned to pack.
(obviously I needed something to wear to thrift in... No shoes, No shirt, No service)

Today  we went thrift shopping at Goodwill, not the biggest haul but definitely some cool pieces!

We will be making another thrift stops on Monday
for now I have enough to make ~3 outfits :)

These photos were taken by Arlina Rose Photography

Remember this skirt?? I wore it as a dress here!
I paired it with a shirt found at a Swap Meet & some T.J Max Clearance Shoes :)

Little Miss Katniss

Today I brought out my inner 'Katniss' and this is what I would wear to 'Reaping Day'

-x-

I was feeling a lot better today and wanted to take advantage of that so here is a post!
(Like I said last post, I will usually only do posts Mondays or Wednesdays)

Today is special!
1. I feel pretty good (which is a first for a while)
2. The Hunger Games comes out tonight!

Skirt: vintage $1.50 (Thrifted @ Savers)
Olive Tank: randomly appeared in my closet a year ago (Forever 21)

Of course I wore a Olive Green Tank to represent Katniss, since she ROCKS that color throughout the novels.

Shoes: My Roommates (Target Mossimo)

When I read The Hunger Games I imagined this soft lighting a eerie fairytale of horror type look during 'Reaping Day'

Necklaces: Forever 21 & Nordstrom

Katniss had a braid, but I opted for 3 bun twists!

Thank you all for being so understanding as I deal with my health!
xoxo

Paisley Paradise

This week is going to be hectic for me so I wanted to give you a fashion packed post today!
(because I may not post again for a few days.. maybe next Monday)

Style Tip: If the dress is long, make them shoes high!

Skirt (made dress): BP Nordstrom Clearance $15
Vest: Target Super Clearance $3 (twas a XL)

Wedges: Love Culture ~$17

Elephant Necklace: Plato's Closet $8
Belt: Thrifted (used a plenty in past posts)

Further exploration into my 'fashion tip'
The reason I say long dress = high shoes is because {being 5'2} when skirts, dresses, shorts etc. go past your knee you start to look very scrunched and overtaken by the item.

Don't let your clothes wear you -- show them who is boss and work together :)

-x-x-x-
I absolutely love this outfit it is a go-to when I need to be semi-casual/dressy.

Ps: can you imagine how long of a skirt this would have been on me!
When I tried it on at Nordstrom as a dress one of the workers was flabbergasted by the fact that you could wear a skirt as a dress!
I was taken-aback by the fact that she had never done it before!

Outfit Total: $43
Worn 5+ times
=$8.6 per wear
(it could actually be seen as cheaper considering I wear all the items with various other outfits!)

Happy Cat Day!

Since I spend this last  Valentine's Day alone (which I was perfectly fine with)
I thought it was only fitting to wear a dress with over 87 cats on it!

Hi my name is Kayla & I am a cat lady.

 Dress: unknown
Jacket: Nordstrom H.I.P

Tights: Hue
Wedges: $8 Old Navy Clearance

I hope all of your Valentine's day were fulfilling or relaxing.
I know the cats love this holiday.

The Search

Hey everyone!
I made this video to share all of my thrift store finds from the last few days!

I now realize how often I use the word 'chunky' to describe my items.
No need to worry I am learning new adjectives.

(I have also been a wee bit under the weather so excuse the occasional sniffle)

Today I am packing up to head back to school
and I am questioning my sanity due to the amount of clothes I am coming back with.

Considering half of my wardrobe is still at school --
I am not sure where all of this is going to go.

Finds that didn't make it:
When I was at the thrift store, there were a few items I did not fit in that I wish I had.

An awesome color blocked Kasper Jacket -- It was rad. Only $3 ( Med/Large)

This Nordstrom 'Rubbish' brand blazer. Only $3! (medium)

These adorable Rocketdog heels! They were only $5! (size 6)

Blazin Day

Today was just a day of running errands (sunscreen, new bathing suit, a few books, homework.. okay magazines but I count those as research) before my trip to the Hawaii Islands!

I basically threw on a blazer, some ankle boots and a scarf and called it a day.
(I was running on a tight schedule, so many things to prepare for!)

I decided to not post my face today.. I was feeling weird (I swear I'm not obsessed with myself) about my face being on every post. SO this post is purely my quick put together of an outfit.

Scarf: Gift (from H&M)

Shoes: Found at Curio

Blazer: Orig. Nordstrom - Thrifted
Jeans: Forever 21

The reason I love blazers is because they automatically make a outfit look more 'put together' and sophisticated.

I say, when in doubt (or when wearing a graphic tee or something that maybe doesn't flatter your curves so nicely THROW A BLAZER ON THAT!

Honestly - Its the best trick to a quick put together outfit.

On a side note - I have yet to decide if I will be blogging via the islands, but we shall see.

Nine Dollars Baby!

The reason the title is 'Nine Dollars Baby' is because -- that is how much this outfit cost me!

Sweater - $3 Thrifted (orig. Nordstrom's) Dress - Gift (orig. F21) Necklace - $2 Thrifted
(and although you cannot see my shoes, they are the boots from earlier posts that cost me $2)

I have worn this ensemble another time at school and used the belt from here.
I love it! Thoughts?

I cannot take 'model-esque' pictures without doing a few silly ones, so I hope they make you laugh!

Christmas Clothes

So today I woke up and walked downstairs to see no presents under the tree this year.
We are awaiting my sisters arrival on Tuesday until we do anything -- I am dying in anticipation to see if my family likes what I got them.

So although we did not open presents today -- I did open up my sewing box!

My grandma and I hung out as she showed me how to do a quick hand stitch hem.

BEFORE:
Unflattery at its finest!
{super low quality picture taken on my old computer a few months ago}

Well 4 inches later and I am absolutely loving the result!
